Welcome Baby Katelin

Katelin, like her older sister, decided to come early. Her due date was July 5th however I was expecting to come early. I just figured that all the stress, both physical and mental, of packing, moving, and unpacking I did 9 months pregnant would make for an early delivery. I couldn't have been happier with the delivery though, everything went so smooth. It was Tyler's first day of orientation as an Emergency Medicine Resident and what do you know my water brakes. So after some phone calls to my Mom, of course, then a nurse for my OB I decided I'd better get some bags pack and head up to the hospital. Thankfully, we had made friends with a great family in our ward that could watch Addie for the day. I got up to the hospital around 10:30 am and was only dilated to a 3 so I knew it was going to be a long day. Tyler was able to come up during his lunch break and then again in the afternoon. About 7 pm is when I really started to progress, can I just say thank heaven for epidurals! When it was time to push Katelin's head was already in view, she practically crawled out on her own. Three pushes and she was out! 3! I couldn't believe it, in fact, I think my comment was "Well this was nice." My OB wittily responded with "That's the Scott & White way" as if she was being filmed for a commercial, it was pretty funny. The only scary thing was when her head came out the cord was wrapped around her neck three times. That is something I really worry about when I'm pregnant, I'm so very grateful that it wasn't tight enough to cause any problems.
Katelin is a beautiful baby and looks very much like Adalynn did when she was born. I could cradle her and stare at her tiny face forever. It's amazing to watch Addie and see what a difference two and a half years makes. The day of a tiny newborn go by so fast and I'm really trying to soak it in. I feel so blessed to have two healthy girls and a wonderful husband to enjoy life with.
