Christmas footage
A Christmas of "First's"
This Christmas had a lot of "First" for us it's our first Christmas in Texas, Katelin's first Christmas, and Adalynn's first Christmas were she learned about Santa. Although it was sad to be away from family both Tyler and I had a wonderful time enjoying every minute with our two beautiful girls!
Halloween in Texas
The house is all decorated inside and out, however, I am really missing our annual soup and pumpkin bread bowl party in Park City. Great Harvest has amazing bread bowls that are colored orange with a green stem to look like a pumpkin, I highly recommend picking some up if your lucky enough to live close to a store. We were going to host a party here but Tyler's schedule has been rediculous and we are both pretty burned out. Plus, there are tons of get togethers going on so we're sitting it out this year.
The girls are doing great! The temperature has finally cooled down a bit so we are able to spend a little more time outside. I've been jogging a little but need to step in up, I'm thinking about running a 1/2 marathon in December. We'll see if these rusty joints will hold up.
Addie started attending a pre-school this month. I was really aprehensive about starting her at school because she does not like to be "dropped off". We still have to stay with her in nursery at church, mostly because we know she has some amazing indurance when she wants to through a fit and we don't really want the nursery leaders to have to deal with that. Anyway, I was completely amazed the first day I dropped her off. She was anxious and crying a bit when I took her into her class and said good bye, but it wasn't two minutes and she had calmed right down. She just jumped right in and got involved before I even left the building! When we picked her up she was excited and happy about being at school, she was so cute! We went and bought her a backpack and lunch box that she loves to carry all by herself. Day two, she didn't cry at all, infact, she almost didn't even say goodbye to me. She only goes two days a week for 5 hours each day so it's not a ton but enough to get her used to being away from Mom and Dad and learning how to be social as well as learning. Then for some reason the last week school was not fun anymore. I had to leave her crying and two hours later they called me to let me know she had been crying the whole time, so I went and picked her up early. She just look so sad until she saw me and she perked right up and was happy the rest of the day. She had had a fever the previous two nights so I was worried she was coming down with something but I'm thinking she's going through a growth sprut.
Addie is very articulate for her age, she really is a lot of fun to talk to. Here are a few of her current phrases:
"Oh come on" if we tell her she can't have something
"It's okay" is her response if you ask her how her dinner is
She'll tell us how her eyes have turned green since we've moved to Temple, Texas (they used to be blue like mine)
Katelin is really a sweet heart! She is so smiley and happy and just loves attention. It's not hard to give it to her either because she just has the biggest smile and bright blue eyes. She giggles all the time too! She's very tickelish on her cheeks, neck, ribs, feet, well pretty much everywhere.

Welcome Baby Katelin
Katelin, like her older sister, decided to come early.
Her due date was July 5th however I was expecting to come early. I just figured
that all the stress, both physical and mental, of packing, moving, and
unpacking I did 9 months pregnant would make for an early delivery. I couldn't
have been happier with the delivery though, everything went so smooth. It was
Tyler's first day of orientation as an Emergency Medicine Resident and what do
you know my water brakes. So after some phone calls to my Mom, of course, then
a nurse for my OB I decided I'd better get some bags pack and head up to the
hospital. Thankfully, we had made friends with a great family in our ward that
could watch Addie for the day. I got up to the hospital around 10:30 am and was
only dilated to a 3 so I knew it was going to be a long day. Tyler was able to
come up during his lunch break and then again in the afternoon. About 7 pm is
when I really started to progress, can I just say thank heaven for epidurals!
When it was time to push Katelin's head was already in view, she
practically crawled out on her own. Three pushes and she was out! 3! I couldn't
believe it, in fact, I think my comment was "Well this was nice." My
OB wittily responded with "That's the Scott & White way" as if
she was being filmed for a commercial, it was pretty funny. The only scary
thing was when her head came out the cord was wrapped around her neck three
times. That is something I really worry about when I'm pregnant, I'm so very
grateful that it wasn't tight enough to cause any problems.
Katelin is a beautiful baby and looks very much like Adalynn
did when she was born. I could cradle her and stare at her tiny face forever.
It's amazing to watch Addie and see what a difference two and a half years
makes. The day of a tiny newborn go by so fast and I'm really trying to soak it
in. I feel so blessed to have two healthy girls and a wonderful husband to
enjoy life with.
Where we are now...
Well it's been more than awhile from my last blog. It's not that nothing has happened this past year or so in fact it's perhaps more of the opposite. The real truth is that I spend so much time on my computer at work that I don't want to come home and stare at other computer screen. However, life has changed...
Tyler has just graduated Medical School and we are so proud of him! It's crazy to think about how fast the past 4 years have gone by even though there were months and months of long hours, crazy schedules and away rotations. I'm grateful for his patience and flexibility when it came to supporting my career as an engineer. I too had many long nights and stressful schedules that he worked with so that we could both pursue and excel in our respective careers. It has not been easy to say the least but we have always felt like the Lord has guided and blessed us with these opportunities and we've really worked hard to support one another. Our families have also been a huge support for us. Of the past 7.5 years that we've been married I think we've spent at least 80% of the weekends with our family and we won't trade it for anything!
March 16th, 2012 was "Match Day" were we finally got to open our letter that told us where we would be completing residency and living for at least the next 3 years. We had a rank list of the 10 programs Tyler interviewed at and the U of U was on top. Even though it wasn't our favorite program we felt like being close to the family would be worth it. Alabama was second, and Texas was third. And the winner is... Scott & White - Texas A&M. I think Tyler was so overwhelmed with emotion once he read the program, he really didn't think he had a chance to get in here. It was the last program to offer him an interview and he was the last applicant that they interviewed. He felt like the interviews went great but he just thought the program was so good and that they had likely already put together their list of interns. We both could not have been more thrilled about it though, I mean really if your not going to be in Utah you might was well be in Texas! In fact, Tyler came home and ordered himself another pair a cowboy boots that afternoon! The Texas State Moto is "The Friendly State" and we sure felt it from day one, everyone we've talked to has offered us help in any and every way possible. It has sure made the transition easier to handle knowing that there was already a strong network and support system in place and we were being welcomed with arms wide open.
