Happy Birthday Adalynn!

Today our little Adalynn turns 3 months old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. She has grown so much from the day she was born and we have loved every minute of it! The past few weeks Addie has started smiling and has even laughed with us a few times!!! The positive response is just wonderful!

At 3 months old, Addie just loves munch'n on her hands! I left her little paws covered for the first 8-9 weeks of life so she wouldn't scratch her face, maybe a little excessive but that's just me, plus we had a few bad trial runs when she was younger. But as soon as I made the decision that we were done covering her hands she has had no major scratches!!! And she's starting to try and push her binky back in when it falls out. One of Tyler's favorite things is when he holds her in the evening she loves to play with his arm hairs. It's just adorable!

Another great thing to note is that 5 of the past 7 nights Addie has slept for a good 6 hour stretch! This has been extremely nice for Mom and Dad. Typically, our night routine has been: Addie starts to grunt and gnaw on her little hands; Mom nudges Dad and asks him to go make a bottle; Mom changes Addie's diaper; Dad returns with the bottle; and Mom feeds Addie and puts her back to sleep. Can I just say, that I love that Tyler is so involved with every aspect of raising Addie. The middle of the night help is just wonderful! And seeing the great connection the Tyler and Addie share brings so much joy to our family. In fact, Addie requires her special "Daddy Daughter" time in the evenings. If Dad's not holding her when she wants him you're going to hear about it! I think both Grandmas' have been snubbed for Daddy time. Sorry Grandma's and don't worry I get it to sometimes!

This week I started working again... and no, I didn't cry. Maybe because I have had to leave Addie with babysitters a few times when my work needed some help while I was on leave. It's been slow getting back into work mode first off because I am more tired due to the lack of nap times and secondly, it just doesn't seem to be as important as it used to. I mostly look forward to going home and playing with Addie. My work has been great about being flexible with my hours. In fact, they got me a laptop so I can do some work from home! I plan on taking Fridays off and leaving early on Wednesdays to be with Addie more, then I'll just do some work from home to get all my hours in. During the day Addie plays at the babysitters, one of our good friends is a stay-at-home Mom, she has a great little boy who's about 20 months old. Both Tyler and I are very happy and grateful that we were able to find such a great babysitter!

A Tribute to our Family in China!

I am sitting here at my parents house today and going through some old pictures and found this great video of my brother-in-law, Mike, and nephew, Trenton. It appears to be and talent night at their ward in Wahiawa, HI. They are now living in China and we miss them soooooo much! I can't wait for them to come visit this summer. Hope you guys don't mind me posting your video but Trent is just so cute on his "guitar" and with Mike's impressive vocals I just couldn't resist! We love you!

Welcome Adalynn Shae

Our little baby girl came into the world on January 14, 2010. It was a long labor and delivery but was all worth it! She's just beautiful and we love her so much! Her birth weight was 6 lbs. 9 oz. and she's 20 inches long. Her official due date was January 27th but I guess she just couldn't wait to meet us, or she was tired of being squished in my belly! I really can't complain about the early delivery, she was hard enough to push out as it was. Tyler has been a wonderful father so far, he gets up at night to get me burp clothes and to changes diapers. It's great to have a husband that's so hands on. On the subject of being hands on... Our OB actually let Tyler deliver little Addie! Once she started crowning they prep'd him to catch her as she came out. He did a great job! We feel so blessed to have had a healthy pregnancy, a safe delivery, and a very healthy baby! Welcome little Adalynn!

Active Baby!

Every time I look at our blog I see this peaceful little baby floating around in a bubble of space, if only that were true! This little girl inside of me is constantly kicking, rolling, stretching, and pushing in all directions. At night, when I want to roll over, I move as slow and smooth as possible trying not to wake her and start the internal beating. Most nights I sleep pretty well and the early bed time has been a much welcomed adjustment for both Tyler and I.

I finally pick the bedding that I liked, and it looks so cute in her crib! I got it off the web at Babysupermall.com, it's the Nojo Chic Blossom design (just incase any of you want to get her some of the accessories)

Today there was one of those backpack carriers on Steepandcheap.com and, of course, being the gear junkies that we are, we had to buy it. My fears of over spoiling this little one are coming to fruition much earlier than I expected. It’s just too hard to tame the excitement! Fortunately, we are blessed with such a great family and beautiful nieces who are willing to share their baby goods. Jeannette, Tyler’s sister, and Jessica, my sister, have pretty much stocked us with most of the “big items”, a crib, car seats, swings, baby baths, clothes, a pack ’n play, and I don’t even know what else. Thank you both so so much!!!

Halloween Party!

We had a great Halloween this year! We invited a few friends from Tyler's medical school class and everyone showed up looking great! Thanks to all of you who made the trip up the canyon to attend our little party, and thanks to everyone who brought treats and drinks! Enjoy the photos! (Sorry if we didn't get everyone's picture!)

Happy Halloween!!!

Question:
If these two mated, what would their offspring look like?

You'd better say "Cute as a button" but if you're thinking Halloween you might say this...

She must love Halloween as much as we do to give us her best Skeleton Face pose!

It's a Girl!

We're so excited for a girl! I'm hoping that means less trouble, however, if you look at our nieces it means more sass!

I’m finally able to feel the kicking and moving around and Tyler can feel her kicks as well, he was so surprised the first time he felt her kicking and now he talks to her all the time. In fact, my whole belly often vibrates when he talks to her.

At 21 weeks I feel like my belly is huge and I simply can not comprehend how much bigger it’s going to get. I’m already having trouble putting my socks on!

We’re starting to think about the nursery and what colors we want to do. Last week we were on a purple and brown theme, but now, I’m liking the brighter colors like the sides of this background (red, orange, green, brown, etc.). I guess I should try to find some bedding that I like first and go with those colors.

I’m still not sure we totally grasp the life adjustment that comes with having a baby, but hopefully we’ll be able to do as we always do… work hard and play harder!
